FRASER VALLEY — Just when BC Hydro restored power to nearly 120,000 customers who suffered outages yesterday, Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the Fraser Valley later today.

The national weather agency says strong southwesterly winds are expected late Thursday afternoon into the early evening for Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Hope.

An approaching low pressure system will track across B.C.’s south coast today, bringing winds of 50 km/h to as high as 80 km/h. Winds should gradually subside by late Thursday evening.

Environment Canada says utility outages could occur, something BC Hydro worked to address yesterday. It has restored service to 99 per cent of its customer base as of Thursday morning.
