Real estate sales in Chilliwack area drop over 11% in September YOY

CHILLIWACK — The number of homes sold in September dropped over 11 per cent compared to the year prior, while benchmark prices for single-family homes edged up slightly.

According to the latest data from the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board on its Facebook page, there were 190 housing units sold in September, a drop of 11.2 per cent year-over-year.

Of the 190 housing units, 102 were single-family units (a decrease of 8.1 per cent), 46 were townhouses (unchanged) and 25 were apartments (44.4 per cent drop). There were other properties like acreage and mobile homes that were not included in the tallies.

Benchmark single-family home prices increased 2.4 per cent to $903,200, while benchmark townhouse prices inched up by 1.1 per cent to $619,300. Notably, the benchmark price for apartments dropped 3.7 per cent to $417,600.
