CHILLIWACK — The Sardis Secondary varsity football program put on a show in front of their hometown fans Friday night (Sept. 26) with a hard-fought 26-13 win over the Seaquam Seahawks out of Delta, giving the Falcons a critical win to kick off their AAA Eastern Conference season.

Senior standout Alex Cayer delivered on both sides of the ball with three touchdowns and a key interception on defence. He hauled in five catches for 139 yards highlighted by two touchdown grabs of 60 and 25 yards, with the longer TD reception coming in the fourth quarter to seal the deal.

Quarterback Myles Mucha completed all five of his passes to Cayer, amassing 139 passing yards on 5-of-10 throwing for two touchdowns.

Junior running back Brody Earl anchored the ground game with 16 carries for 100 yards, providing consistent yardage and helping control the tempo of the game.

On defense, the Falcons exhibited a physical edge led by defensive ends Liam Sterling and Malakai Hakansson, who set the tone with their relentless pursuit and high tackle counts. The Falcons’ defensive front consistently pressured the Seahawks and made key stops throughout the contest.

Head Coach Sukh Parmar praised the team’s all-around effort in the season opener.

“I thought we played well the entire game,” said Parmar. “Seaquam played a physical game and they ran the ball very well. We had to match that intensity, and I’m proud of how our guys responded. We are in a tough conference. We have to learn to play tough, mistake-free football to remain competitive for the remainder of the season.”

With the win, the Falcons improved to 1-0 in AAA Eastern Conference play.

The Falcons will look to build on this momentum when they face the Robert Bateman Timberwolves on the road this Friday, October 3 at 3 p.m. at Bateman Secondary in Abbotsford.
