Gas prices spike in Chilliwack

UPDATE: Gas prices jump over 20 cents/l in Chilliwack, including at Canco on Vedder Road

CHILLIWACK — Gas prices have spiked over 20 cents a litre in less than 24 hours in Chilliwack.

Regular unleaded prices previously hovered at around $1.569 per litre the past 3-5 days before a steep hike of about 25 cents began appearing throughout Chilliwack Monday night and Tuesday morning.

A Fraser Valley Today reporter travelled along the Vedder Road corridor Tuesday morning in Sardis and witnessed prices now starting at $1.819 for a litre of regular unleaded gas (87 octane) at places like Chevron and Shell. The same price is also posted at the Esso gas station on Luckakuck Way.

There’s one gas station on Vedder Road in Sardis, however, where it isn’t $1.819 per litre, and that’s the Canco at Vedder/Wells. As of 8:40 a.m. Tuesday morning, it remains $1.559. However, by Wednesday morning, it had also raised its price to $1.819/l like most other gas stations along the Vedder Road corridor.
