Over 100 participants join annual Abbotsford stair-climbing fundraiser
ABBOTSFORD — Hospitals across the eastern Fraser Valley now have nearly $14,000 for their cardiac care facilities, thanks to funds raised from the 8th Step Up 4 Cardiac Health at Abbotsford Centre on Sunday (Feb. 9).
Participants got to choose from three pace levels for climbing and descending the stairs, but those who only wanted to take a walk could also opt to stroll around the concourse.
“This year’s event was a tremendous success!” said Liz Harris, executive director of the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF). “We were thrilled to see such strong community participation and enthusiasm.”
Two recruits from the Abbotsford Fire Fighters Charitable Organization completed the challenge in full turnout gear, which weighs approximately 50 pounds.
