CHILLIWACK — It appears another weather system from the Pacific Ocean could impact holiday travel plans this weekend.

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement warning motorists of up to 15 centimetres of snow falling on well-travelled highways connecting the Fraser Valley to the B.C. Interior.

The statement was issued late Friday (Dec. 27) morning. It suggests up to 15 centimetres of snow could accumulate along the Coquihalla Highway between Hope and Merritt and Highway 3 from the Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.

It says the weather system is expected to begin producing snowfall Friday evening before intensifying through Saturday. The snow is predicted to taper off Saturday evening as the system moves past the region.
