CHILLIWACK — Close to 100 B.C. Hydro customers were affected by an outage Friday night after a power pole caught fire in Chilliwack.

Chilliwack Fire says they were called out just before 9:30 p.m. to Roseberry Road just east of Tyson and north of Watson Roads of a possible electrical blaze.

Firefighters reported flames at the top of the pole upon arrival.

B.C. Hydro characterized the incident as an “equipment failure” and said crews were still on the scene Saturday morning restoring service for some 97 affected customers.
