Cyclist suffers serious injuries in collision with motor vehicle: AbbyPD

ABBOTSFORD — Abbotsford Police say a 26-year-old male cyclist sustained serious injuries following a collision with a motor vehicle Monday in Abbotsford.

Abbotsford Police Department spokesperson Constable Art Stele says police were dispatched at 3:22 p.m. Monday (July 22) to the intersection of Garden Street and Simon Avenue for a motor vehicle versus a cyclist. At the scene, police say medical aid was immediately rendered to the victim, who was transported to hospital for further care and assessment of injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. Initial findings indicate impairment is not being considered as a contributing factor in the crash.

As of 6 p.m. Monday evening, police don’t know when the intersection will re-open as officers remain at the scene, investigating the crash.
