MISSION — The Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team (ERT) was deployed last week after a female told police that she had been assaulted and robbed by a man inside a home in Mission.

According to a news brief from police, Mounties in Mission were advised that a female had been allegedly assaulted and robbed by a man inside a home in the 34000 block of Ferndale Avenue. Investigators met the victim and learned there was key evidence still inside the house where the assault occurred. Police obtained a search warrant, and due to the potential risks to officer safety, the ERT attended to assist with entry to the residence on Friday, June 7.

Police say several people exited the house cooperatively, however ERT was forced to make entry into the house to try to locate the offender. He was eventually located hiding in the attic, and was arrested without further incident. The man was arrested for numerous offences relating to the assault, and also had multiple outstanding arrest warrants.

Mission RCMP stayed on scene at the Ferndale Avenue home throughout the day on Saturday, June 8, gathering additional evidence, which included firearms and a considerable quantity of drugs. The 43-year-old man from Mission, who has a criminal record, as well as other outstanding charges, has been remanded in custody.
