MISSION — First responders in Mission were dispatched earlier this week to reports of back-to-back crashes Monday evening, including an incident where a black pickup truck smashed into an empty school bus.

According to a news brief from the Mission RCMP detachment, Mounties and other first responders were notified about a pickup truck versus an empty school bus Monday evening, June 10 at about 5:15 p.m. The school bus was turning from Keystone Avenue onto Hayward Street when the northbound truck hit the bus. No injuries were reported. Weather and slick roads were not a factor in the collision.

An hour later, a three-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Cedar Street and Egglestone Avenue. A witness reported that a black Dodge Dart driving north on Cedar Street went through a red light at the intersection, colliding with a grey Mazda that was driving west on Egglestone Avenue. Both vehicles then crashed into a pickup truck stopped at the red light. Fortunately, only minor injuries were reported.

Mission RCMP says it wants to remind the public to slow down and drive safely at all times of year.
