Road construction on Highway 11 Monday

Apr 28, 2024 | 6:02 AM

ABBOTSFORD — B.C.’s transportation ministry says the final repairs for the flood-damaged section of Highway 11 at Willband Creek in Abbotsford will begin Monday (Apr. 29).

In an information release, the ministry says the four lanes of the highway will be shifted between Valley Road and Bateman Road to allow its contractor to repair the highway, which was damaged by the November 2021 atmospheric rivers.

The ministry is warning drivers there will be a reduced speed limit and that single-lane closures will be in effect from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday to Friday for about two weeks.

It says once all four lanes have been shifted, which is expected to be complete by the end of May, the lanes will remain in place until repairs and final paving are finished in October.
