CHILLIWACK — A weather system that is expected to produce enough clouds to block the view of the partial solar eclipse in the Fraser Valley, is expected to pack a spring snow punch to the Coquihalla Highway.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Coquihalla Summit, saying up to 15 cm of snow is expected between Monday evening through Tuesday morning.

It says motorists should expect precipitation to begin as rain Monday afternoon before changing to snow near the summit in the evening as the snow level drops. Some scattered flurries could continue through the Tuesday morning to the noon hour. A total of 15 cm is forecast by noon on Tuesday.

The warning goes on to say that the rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult in some areas and warns drivers should be prepared to adjust their driving to adapt to the changing road conditions.
