CHILLIWACK — G.W. Graham senior Jack Bowman won’t have to go south of the border or leave the province in order to continue his football journey once he graduates.

The 6-foot-2, 280-pound offensive lineman and defensive tackle who earned Eastern Conference all-star honours this past season has committed to play for the Valley Huskers in Chilliwack.

“The Valley Huskers are excited to announce the commitment of offensive lineman, Jack Bowman! Welcome to the Huskers Fam, Jack!” the Huskers wrote on their Facebook page earlier this week.

Bowman was invited to be a part of Team B.C. U18 and was a provincial all-star lineman.

G.W. Graham football coaches were quick to praise the announcement on Facebook.

“You got a great one there,” G.W. Graham varsity head coach Ryk Piché said.

“This makes me so happy. This young man is a cornerstone piece. You build teams around his commitment and ability. Congrats to both Jack and the Valley Huskers,” Matt Paisley wrote on Facebook.

“A team first guy with a heart of gold. It’s been a pleasure to be a part of your journey, and will continue to watch as you continually rise to the challenge of whatever obstacle is in your way. Thank you for being such a good friend and teammate to my boys!” Ian Parks wrote on Facebook.

When the 2023 season came to a close in a playoff loss for the Grizzlies, Bowman was quick to focus on the positive in a X/Twitter post dated December 11, 2023.

“After a great season, it has all come to an end,” Bowman wrote. “Will love these boys forever and GW Football will always have a special place in my heart. Thankful for all that this program has given me and all the opportunities that have came along!”
