CHILLIWACK — Over 1,800 BC Hydro customers north of downtown Chilliwack and in Fairfield Island have lost power Wednesday night.

According to the BC Hydro website, 1,870 customers north of Reece Avenue and west of Hope River Road lost power at 7:53 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Crews have been assigned and should arrive by 9 p.m. BC Hydro estimates power will be back on by 10 p.m.

Hydro’s website was last updated at 9:40 p.m.

Hydro says the cause involves a “bird contacting our wires.”

Altogether, power was out in Chilliwack for a little over two hours.
