AGASSIZ — One person was airlifted to hospital following an assault at Kent Institution, a maximum-security federal prison, in Agassiz Tuesday night.

B.C. Emergency Health Services spokesperson Bowen Osoko says paramedics received a call about an assault at Kent Institution in Agassiz Tuesday, March 26 at 7 p.m. An air ambulance and two ambulances were dispatched to the scene. Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment and transported one patient by air ambulance to hospital, Osoko said.

Fraser Valley Today has left a message with Kim MacPherson, assistant warden of management services at Kent Institution, seeking information on Tuesday night’s incident. MacPherson has not returned a call to Fraser Valley Today as of Thursday morning.

Earlier this week, an inmate was the victim of an assault at Kent on Sunday, Mar. 24. The injured inmate was evaluated by staff members and transported to an outside hospital to receive treatment.
