Pedestrian dies after being hit by car, but Chilliwack RCMP say no crime occurred; motorist has allegedly not filed an ICBC claim
CHILLIWACK — A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle at an intersection near downtown Chilliwack in November 2023 and subsequently transported to hospital in critical condition has died.
On Thursday, November 2, 2023, Chilliwack Fire Department, Chilliwack RCMP, and BC Ambulance Service were dispatched after a pedestrian was struck at the intersection of Princess Avenue and Nowell Street. According to scanner traffic that morning, authorities received a call at 9:56 a.m. about a motor vehicle incident in the 46100 block of Princess Avenue in Chilliwack.
A Fraser Valley Today reporter witnessed the aftermath of the incident as an individual lay injured on the ground in the middle of the intersection. Approximately seven first responders surrounded the individual as the male expressed significant discomfort. The patient was placed in the back of an ambulance that morning at 10:11 a.m.
BC Emergency Health Services released a statement that day confirming paramedics were dispatched to the area of Princess and Nowell just before 10 a.m.
