ABBOTSFORD – A popular brewery in Chilliwack is gearing up for the opening of its new location in Abbotsford.

As it prepares to open a new location at 1356 Sumas Way just south of Highway 1 (exit 92), Farmhouse Brewing Co. held a job fair in early June that saw 63 new members hired.

Since that hiring fair, the Chilliwack-based brewery has been working diligently to on-board the new employees.

“Training has begun at Farmhouse Abby!” the company wrote online in June. “We’re hard at work together & the energy has been nothing short of electric! We’re building more than just a brewery—we’re building a community for everyone, and we can’t wait to welcome you in to experience it with us!”

Opening day hasn’t been officially announced, and there’s a reason for that, Farmhouse co-owner Colleen Neels told Fraser Valley Today.

“Our soft opening date and grand opening dates have not been announced at all, on purpose. We’ll be posting our soft opening date the day before it begins. If we did announce it this far in advance, it wouldn’t be a soft opening for our new Abby crew,” Neels said.

Neels did say the soft opening would last for approximately two weeks and include restricted seating for more training scenarios before the official grand opening date.

“We have training days and nights next week with them, which should be a lot of fun!” Neels said. “It takes a lot to train a lot of servers and kitchen staff at once. They’re working hard and learning quick though! Keep an eye on our socials!”

The Abbotsford hours will be identical to its Chilliwack location, 11:30-9 Monday through Thursday, and 11:30-10 Friday and Saturday.

Farmhouse Brewing Co. is known for its artisan-style pizza, outdoor setting, a playground on its grounds, and a variety of drinks, from non-alcoholic beverages to beers (e.g., lagers, pilsners, IPAs, radlers etc.) and sours (e.g., raspberry lemonade sour, blackberry peach cobbler sour).

Its Abbotsford location will be nearly identical to the Chilliwack location with a few exceptions, Neels said.

“Both will have different rotating flavours of radlers and flavoured cheesecakes on. The core beers will be the same, however they will likely have different seasonal brews on depending how thirsty people are who visit each location,” Neels told Fraser Valley Today. “The inside is the same vibes, but on a lot larger of a scale. Layout inside and outside is different from each other, however both are equally welcoming.”

Both locations will have Music Mondays featuring local musicians from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Neels said, adding that these are all booked up for the season until the fall at both locations.

In February 2025, the company won the Agricultural Excellence award at the 30th annual Business Excellence Awards.
