CHILLIWACK — A massive snowfall dump overnight has prompted the Fraser Valley Regional Library to close its Chilliwack branch locations.

According to a social media post Wednesday morning (Jan. 17), FVRL has closed its Chilliwack and Sardis libraries due to inclement weather.

A similar move is being echoed by downtown Chilliwack businesses.

“Many of our wonderful merchants are closed today,” Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association wrote on Facebook at 7:06 a.m. Wednesday morning. “The last thing we want to be. But with weather like this, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Here’s hoping you’re staying safe & warm, so grab a coffee, bundle up & you can still shop DWTNCHWK – ONLINE! We thank you for shopping local any way you can. Be safe, everyone!”
