Search continues Sunday for missing helicopter in B.C.
CHILLIWACK — The search for a helicopter that went missing Friday while travelling from Calgary to Sicamous is continuing Sunday in B.C.’s Southern Interior.
A spokesperson for Maritime Forces Pacific says crews believe the helicopter is missing in Glacier National Park, because the province’s Joint Rescue Coordination Centre was alerted to the sound of an emergency locator transmitter about 18 kilometres east of Revelstoke.
Pedram Mohyeddin says crews are operating as if that is the missing helicopter and ground and air search was initiated. Mohyeddin says a search-and-rescue helicopter and a military aircraft were also tasked with finding the missing helicopter, but low visibility due to weather is preventing them from operating Saturday.
Snow and rain is forecast for the area Sunday, along with temperatures that are expected to drop throughout the day.
