HOPE — Multiple RCMP members from several cities, including Chilliwack and Agassiz, rushed to Hope Friday afternoon (Dec. 15) after a suspect allegedly broke into a home and stole a homeowner’s vehicle before being apprehended by police.

According to a news release from Sgt. Michael Sargent of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment, Hope RCMP received a report of a break and enter in progress in the 26000 block of Reynolds Road in Hope on Friday, Dec. 15 at 1:30 p.m. During this incident, the unidentified suspect was interrupted by the homeowner, but still somehow managed to steal the homeowner’s vehicle.

Police have reason to believe this same suspect was involved in an incident earlier Friday where the male suspect attempted to steal a pickup truck at gunpoint at a residence in the 23000 block of American Creek Rd. Sgt. Sargent says officers from Hope, Boston Bar, Chilliwack and Agassiz as well as Lower Mainland Support Services were able to locate the stolen vehicle and the suspect on Othello Road in Hope.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident and is facing numerous charges.
