Late goal gives Chilliwack Chiefs win

CHILLIWACK — Caleb Elfering scored with 46 seconds remaining in regulation time to give the Chilliwack Chiefs a 5 – 4 win over the Powell River Kings Saturday night at the Chilliwack Coliseum.

The goal came at the end of a defensive third period which saw each team manage only four shots on goal.

Oliver Beaulieu and Lucas Sorace scored their first goals of the season 22 seconds apart late in the first period to help the Chiefs open up a 3 – 2 lead after the first period. Powell River fought back to outscore the Chiefs in the second period and sent the game to the third period tied at 4.

Nico Grabas and Nathan Morin also scored goals for the Chiefs, who were outshot 28 – 21 by the Kings. Austin McNicholas picked up the victory in the Chilliwack net.
