CHILLIWACK — Those planning to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies across the Fraser Valley will want to be equipped with rain jackets, gloves and umbrellas to get through the day.

An Environment Canada rainfall warning remains in place for the Fraser Valley. The warning was put in place for much of Vancouver and the Fraser Valley Friday morning, as a front approached the B.C. mainland.

Environment Canada says by the time the frontal system passes through the Fraser Valley, up to 70 mm of rain could fall throughout the area. Rain is predicted to persist into the evening through the Fraser Valley. Heavy downpours could lead to flash flooding and water pooling on roads.

Water pooling in autumn is often magnified by fallen leaves which are collected by rainwater and washed to drain intakes, often plugging the drains and backing up water. Local municipalities have issued notices asking residents to help out by clearing debris from storm drains in their neighbourhoods.
