Remembrance Day ceremonies abound in Chilliwack, Fraser Valley
CHILLIWACK — There will be three opportunities in Chilliwack this weekend for residents to acknowledge and remember the heroic sacrifices from Canada’s veterans past and present.
According to the City of Chilliwack website, the downtown service begins this Saturday, November 11 at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Hall, 9291 Corbould Street. The procession leaves Evergreen Hall at 10:30 a.m., with the ceremony immediately following at Veteran’s Memorial Park, 45820 Spadina Avenue.
The Sardis procession and ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 295 at 5661 Vedder Road, with the ceremony immediately following at All Sappers Memorial Park at 5571 Vedder Road.
The Stó:lō Veterans Remembrance Day will be conducted at the Coqualeetza Longhouse, 7201 Vedder Road, in Chilliwack. Longhouse doors open at 9 a.m., followed by the ceremony start time at 10 a.m. At 10:50 a.m., there will be a procession to the memorial site prior to a roll call at 11 a.m. A moment of silence is set to occur at exactly 11:11 a.m., complemented by a laying of wreaths.
