Abbotsford police nab driver 70 km/h over the speed limit

ABBOTSFORD — As a new week of commuting begins, the Abbotsford Police Department is reminding motorists to slow down and stick to posted speed limits.

In a social media post, AbbyPD reported catching a person driving 70 km/h over the speed limit last week. The person behind the wheel of a Land Rover Discovery was clocked doing 120 km/h in a 50 km/h speed zone along Sumas Way.

Police say the driver was issued a ticket for excessive speeding and the vehicle was impounded.

According to ICBC, 81 British Columbians die each year in speed-related crashes.
