Impaired drivers continue to keep Abbotsford police busy in 2022

According to ICBC, impaired driving continues to be a leading cause of car crash fatalities in British Columbia. On average, 64 people die in crashes involving impaired​ driving in B.C. annually and nearly one out of every four fatalities involving automobile crashes are connected to an impaired driver.

ICBC says 69 per cent of all impaired drivers involved in crashes are male. And 54 per cent of impaired driving crashes occur on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Authorities are reminding drivers to consider their options before going out, including using a designated driver, setting up a rideshare or a taxi or using public transit.
