Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce announces finalists for Business Excellence awards

CHILLIWACK — Johannes Treur’s Creekside Cheese + Creamery business, a farm he owns with his wife Julaine, is one of the many Chilliwack-area businesses who have been nominated for the upcoming Business Excellence awards gala in January.

The Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce released the list of Business Excellence finalists Thursday (Dec. 29) as it gears up for one of the highlights of its busy slate in 2023.

The nominations cover a broad array of categories, including agriculture, community impact, innovation, and Indigenous business, just to name a few, but they each embody the very best that Chilliwack-area businesses and their entrepreneurial spirit have to offer.

“Congratulations to all the nominees on a fantastic year! We look forward to working with you and celebrating you in 2023!” the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce wrote on Facebook Thursday.

The finalists consist of the following in their respective categories:

* Agriculture: Rainbow Greenhouses, Creekside Cheese + Creamery, DeVry Greenhouses, Local Harvest, and Farmhouse Brewing.

* Business Leader: Allan Andrews – MNP; Heidi Epp – The Refinery House; John Verschuur – Valley Waste and Recycling; Paul Donaldson – Odlum Brown; and Rob Hasell – Emil Anderson.

* Community Impact: Metric Civil Contractors, Downtown Chilliwack Market Society, Zacharias Vickers LLP, Southern Irrigation, The Co., Fortin’s, and Odlum Brown.

* Corporate Social Responsibility: Bricklayer Brewing, Chilliwack Bowls of Hope, Pick Eco Refills, TeksMed Services, and Southern Irrigation.

* Indigenous Business: Bear Image Productions, Black Wolf and Fang, Lil Bear Contracting, Tzeachten Land Development, Sto:lo Community Futures, and Sto:lo Gift Shop.

* Innovation: Brightside Eggs, Creekside Cheese and Creamery, Dieselmatic Digital, Zuma Canada, Dutch Heritage Greenhouse, TYCROP/H2 Portable, and Cowork Chilliwack.

* Large Business: Gerry Enns Contracting, Metric Civil Contractors Ltd., Molson Coors, Southern Irrigation, and Zacharias Vickers.

* New Business: Create Space Hair Co., Specsavers, Wellington Natural Health, Wilde Wellness, Farmhouse Brewing Co., The Co., Zacharias Vickers, SinAmen Bun Co., and Smoking Gun Coffee Roasters.

* Non-Profit: Ann Davis Transition Society, Chilliwack and District Seniors Resource Society, Sardis Doorway, Wilma’s Transition Society, Chilliwack Community Cupboard, Chilliwack Community Services, Chilliwack Hospice Society, Chilliwack School of Performing Arts, Fraser Valley Aboriginal Children and Family Services Society, Xyolhemeylh, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

* Service Excellence: Danielle Beausoleil (realtor), Morrows Moving & Storage, Pivot Point Counselling, Rebalance Rehab, Just Peachy Sugaring Salon, Mertin Group, Michael’s on Main, Optimum Sports Performance and Health Centre, Simply Savoury Valley Catering, and Valley Waste & Recycling.

* Small & Medium Business: Bromac Mechanical Ltd., Excel Martial Arts, Five Star Motor Sports, The Town Butcher, It’s All Pawsitive, Culture Co., Cultivate Café, Lolly’s Fashion Lounge, Capella Dance Academy, and Sto:lo Bannock.

The 2022-23 Business Excellence awards will be presented on Saturday, January 28 at 6 p.m., at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre by the Chamber and CEPCO (Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation). The event is underwritten by Baker Newby LLP and KPMG.

“The 2022/23 Business Excellence Awards will be an event you’ve never experienced before – an exclusive evening to celebrate local Chilliwack Businesses and their contributions of excellence to our community,” the Chamber said in a news release. “Join the revelry in your finest dress, and be ready to indulge in beautiful beverages, an array of delicious eats, and a medley of entertainment for the evening.”
