CHILLIWACK — Island 22 recreational area will partially re-open to the public tomorrow (Jul. 8) after recent flood waters spilling over from the Fraser River closed the park.

Fraser Valley Regional District announced Thursday afternoon that Island 22 Regional Park in Fairfield Island will resume regular park hours tomorrow between 6 a.m. and sunset.

However, the equestrian area, riverside trails, and the back of the dog park are still flooded and closed to the public. Some areas of the bike park that are due for upgrades remain closed.

Authorities urge park visitors to be cautious while using the facilities and to keep pets and people away from fast-flowing sections of the river.
