Human remains found in Mission in 2024 are those of a woman reported missing in Mission last month

MISSION – Police in Mission now say human remains found in Mission in 2024 are those of a woman who was reported missing last month.

Mission RCMP spokesperson Corporal Harrison Mohr says that on June 14, 2026, a family member of an adult woman named Mary Gadbois reported her as a missing person. After Mission RCMP made contact and spoke with the woman’s family, it was determined that no one had seen her for a number of years. 

Corporal Mohr says investigators worked diligently to try to locate the missing woman, and eventually began looking into whether human remains found in Mission in 2024 might be those of the missing woman. 

“After examining the matter in partnership with the BC Coroner’s Service, Mission RCMP can now confirm that the previously unidentified remains are in fact those of the missing woman,” Cpl. Mohr said. “Mission RCMP send their sincerest sympathies to the woman’s family, and hope that this news helps to bring some closure to what must have been a very difficult time in their lives.”
