CHILLIWACK – Chilliwack Mounties say an apparent road rage incident on Highway 1 Saturday night led to fisticuffs between two men, before police intervened to settle the dispute.

Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Corporal Carmen Kiener says police were called to the intersection of Airport Road and Yale Road at approximately 8:56 p.m. Saturday for a report of an altercation involving several individuals.

When police arrived, officers discovered that two vehicles were involved in an apparent road rage incident of some type on Highway 1.

The drivers of the two vehicles later drove to Airport Road and Yale Road, and at some point, an altercation ensued between two adult males.

A witness who lives nearby, Tyler Man, told Fraser Valley Today that the driver of a white truck, pictured in the primary image for this story, had been dumping water on himself and wiping himself down with a towel. He said approximately five RCMP units surrounded and boxed in the white pickup and black car, while multiple people stood outside the vehicles.

An ambulance responded to the scene in a routine fashion. Man said paramedics attended to the driver of the white pickup truck.

Corporal Kiener says officers were able to de-escalate the situation, and all parties agreed to go their separate ways.
