‘Grown-up social studies’ speaker series returns for 2nd night in Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — A local speaker series is returning for its second run at The Grand Hall in Chilliwack.
On November 4, at 6 p.m., Civil Nights will return with Kelli Paddon, who will talk about her experiences as a former MLA and B.C. Parliamentary Secretary for Gender Equity.
Civil Nights host Jade Lehti touts the event as a “grown-up’s social studies crash course,” where participants can learn about the responsibilities of different levels of government, who to contact and best practices for speaking with officials.
“This started as a personal letter writing research project,” said Lehti. “There’s a lot going on in the world – and our backyard – right now and I think people want to be a bigger part of the change than they know how to… or maybe they just need to be reminded of how much power they already hold.”
