CHILLIWACK — The local organization supporting grieving loved ones is marking National Grief and Bereavement Day with a free memorial event.

On November 18, the Chilliwack Hospice Society will be hosting its Memorial Celebration at the Chilliwack Museum and Archives.

The Memorial Celebration helps individuals and families honour their loved ones in a shared community space. The event is open to anyone who is grieving – recent death or not. Gusts are encouraged to bring a framed picture of their loved one to display throughout the evening.

“Our Memorial Celebration provides a safe and meaningful space for people to come together, honour their loved ones and feel supported by others who understand what they’re going through,” said Sue Knott, Chilliwack Hospice Society executive director.

“Moments like this remind us that grief is a shared human experience, and no one needs to face it alone.”

Residents can also listen to music by Chilliwack-based singer-songwriter Jennifer Victor and hear guest speaker Cristal Biela discuss her personal and professional experiences with grief.

National Grief and Bereavement Day is held on the third Tuesday of November to raise awareness about grief literacy and encourage open conversations about loss.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to RSVP by calling (604) 795-4660.
