Sports bar, BBQ restaurant franchise coming to Chilliwack

CHILLIWACK — A Canadian restaurant and sports bar franchise boasting pork ribs, in-house smoked brisket, steaks and burgers plans to open in Chilliwack as early as next month.

According to its website, and the text of a post in a Chilliwack-area Facebook group, Montana’s BBQ & Bar is slated to open in the Coast Hotel (45920 First Avenue) in Chilliwack in November.

“Our Chilliwack restaurants boast a casual and inviting atmosphere, perfect for unwinding with friends and family while you cheer on your favourite teams,” Montana’s wrote on its website. “With TVs to catch the game, a lively vibe, daily deals and drink specials, we’re Chilliwack’s game day headquarters. Plus, our kids menu and welcoming Q-Crew staff ensure everyone has a great time.”

Montana’s own website states it will open in Chilliwack in November – backed by the words “coming soon.”

When it comes to what food it will offer, its lunch menu consists of items you might expect – like a chicken club wrap, BBQ lunch trio (soup, salad and your choice of a half sandwich – pulled pork, chicken club wrap or upgrade to a brisket sandwich), a burger and pork back ribs.

Combos are its bread and butter. There’s an ultimate appetizer combo (wings, pita, nacho chips, oven-baked antojitos, and deep-fried pickles), a Southern BBQ combo (12 pieces of smoked ribs, 8 chicken wings, mac and cheese, coleslaw, seasoned fries and cornbread muffins), and a steak combo (steak, onion rings, fries or house salad, baked beans or coleslaw).

Under its surf and turf offerings, Montana’s menu features lobster four-cheese spinach dip, lobster bisque, lobster antojitos, a seven-ounce steak and lobster tail (10-oz. and 12-oz. steaks are also available), and lobster mac and cheese.

Montana’s tries to appeal to every palate among the pickiest eaters. That’s why its kids menu features “Scoobi Doo Noodles,” cheesy cheese pizza, a kids burger, chicken fingers, grilled cheese sandwiches, and a kids-sized portion of pork back ribs.

Its bar menu offers domestic, premium and imported brews in 18-ounce, 23-ounce and 56-ounce (1.65-liter) sizes, including Bud Light, Coors Light, Alexander Keith’s IPA, Molson Canadian, Budweiser, Michelob Ultra, Rickard’s Red, Blue Moon Wheat Ale, and Stella Artois. Patrons can also order signature cocktails frozen margaritas, frozen daiquiris, pina coladas, mojitos, sangria, Long Island iced tea, a Great Canadian Caesar, and “Momma’s lemonade”, in addition to wine in all types of varieties. Under spirits, Montana’s lists rum, brandy, gin, tequila, whisky and vodka. It also has a non-alcoholic menu.

A post in the Filipino Association of Chilliwack Facebook group suggests Montana’s will open on November 24. A post from Mark-Darlene Pavilando Torres suggests a hiring fair will be held each day starting Saturday, November 1 until Sunday, November 9 at the Coast Chilliwack Hotel itself.
