Opening of Reformed bookstore in Chilliwack planned for early 2026

CHILLIWACK — A Reformed bookstore could open in Chilliwack in early 2026 on Luckakuck Way near Best Buy and Hofstede’s Country Barn.

According to a statement from steering committee member Tera Procee, the Chilliwack bookstore will be a satellite store opening under the board and management of Brantford, Ontario-based Reformed Book Services.

A steering committee comprised of Chilliwack volunteers has been in conversation and planning mode since early 2025, Procee said, and secured a location of 45802 Luckakuck Way.

Reformed Book Services is a Canadian charity that supports Reformed Christian reading, study and education.

The planned location on Luckakuck Way is currently occupied by Nick’s Lighting & Decor, which will be closing out in the coming month or so. Prior to Nick’s Lighting & Decor, a Christian bookstore named Verses formerly operated in the same space.

“We are excited for this opportunity to open a store in Chilliwack,” Procee said. “We thank the Lord for inclining the hearts of our donors and volunteers and we pray He will bless our efforts for His glory and the spiritual benefit of our community.”

The Chilliwack location will have 2,300 sq ft of retail space, as well as a 600-square foot mezzanine where there will be study and meeting space.

“We hope to take possession as early as December, for renovations and installation of fixtures,” Procee said. “We anticipate that we may be able to open by the end of January, or by mid-February 2026.”

The steering committee is fundraising to cover the cost of the renovations, fixtures and the starting inventory of books.

Staffing and management of the store will largely be volunteer-based, but if the fundraising is successful, the committee hopes to hire one part-time manager as well.

“Most of our books are sold at a lower margin compared to a for-profit business model, because it is our aim to provide them at a more accessible price point,” Procee said. “There will be many categories of books, as well as an extensive section of children’s books.”

An information and fundraiser evening has been planned for Thursday, November 6 at 7 p.m. at the Free Reformed Church of Chilliwack, located next to Service BC, on Yale Road.
