CHILLIWACK — A motorist has been issued a number of violation tickets after the vehicle he was driving crashed and wound up in a ditch along Chadsey Road Friday night in Chilliwack.

According to a statement from Chilliwack RCMP spokesperson Sgt. Alexandra Mulvihill, first responders were called to the 6000 block of Chadsey Road Friday evening (Oct. 10) just after 6:45 p.m. in the 6000 block of Chadsey Road in Greendale.

Police say there were no witnesses to the single-vehicle collision. A lone male was located at the scene outside the vehicle.

Sgt. Mulvhill says an impaired driving investigation occurred, but no charges were pursued.

The male was issued a number of other violation tickets, Sgt. Mulvihill said.

Two tow trucks were called to the scene.

No injuries were reported.

The crash left 11 BC Hydro customers without power while repair crews fixed hydro infrastructure.

Chadsey Road was closed for at least an hour between South Sumas Road and Keith Wilson Road. The accident occurred close to a 30-km/h zone near a sharp curve in the rural road.

A Greendale resident told Fraser Valley Today the vehicle in question was half submerged in the ditch nose down and suffered significant damage. She said she and other nearby residents have been asking for a flashing amber at that corner for 27 years.
