New park set to open in Abbotsford
ABBOTSFORD — The City of Abbotsford will celebrate the opening of a new neighbourhood park in the city’s west end later this month.
A celebration to open the 3.5 hectare Engineer Park is planned for Saturday, October 25, at 1:30 p.m. A variety of family activities, a scavenger hunt, hot beverages and treats, and hands-on building exercises led by Young Innovators are planned for the day.
“Creating accessible and welcoming spaces that connect neighbours and promote healthy and active living is an important focus for City Council,” said Abbotsford Mayor Ross Siemens.
Engineer Park is located between the Fraser Highway and Bertrand Creek in the Aberdeen neighbourhood. The park will connect two residential areas through paved pathways and looping gravel trails. It will feature two playgrounds, a sport court, open green space, a picnic shelter, seating areas and an off-leash dog park.
