Four youths charged after assault at Abbotsford park, as police seize weapons
ABBOTSFORD — Police in Abbotsford say four youths have been charged after an alleged weapons-related incident at Mill Lake Park last week.
According to a statement from AbbyPD Sgt. Paul Walker, police were dispatched for a report of an incident on Friday, Oct. 3 at approximately 2:51 p.m. at Mill Lake Park. When police arrived on scene, they confirmed that a youth had suffered minor injuries after being shot with a BB gun during a disturbance involving several individuals.
Members of AbbyPD’s Youth Squad quickly identified four youths responsible for the assault. Officers seized a Glock-style BB gun and multiple knives at the scene. The injured youth was transported to hospital for medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
Sgt. Walker says all four youths have since been arrested and collectively face charges including assault with a weapon, assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and breach of a release order.
