CHILLIWACK — Runners are invited to race around Cultus Lake next week for a good cause.

The annual Around the Lake Give’R Take 30 trail race is back for its 22nd year to raise funds for Chilliwack-area organizations and scholarships.

“The route loops around Cultus Lake, mostly on forested trails and paths, with occasional beachside or roadside segments giving variety and views,” said the race committee’s Brad Driscoll.

Last year’s event raised over $11,000 for groups including the Fraser Valley Mountain Bike Association, the Chilliwack Park Society, and the Chilliwack School District.

Driscoll noted that the 30-kilometre race attracts runners and spectators from outside the immediate region, which helps boost local businesses and showcases Chilliwack and Cultus Lake as a destination for outdoor and trail tourism.

Runners can either enter solo or as a pair for the relay, while kids aged between five and 11 are encouraged to join the 1.5-kilometre race.

Around the Lake Give’R Take 30 Trail Race is set to start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, at Cultus Lake Main Beach.
