CHILLIWACK — A Chilliwack nonprofit is inviting local entrepreneurs to take a chance at building their businesses with the next edition of the Startup Challenge.

Community Futures South Fraser is offering hands-on workshops and mentorship over eight weeks to entrepreneurs based in Chilliwack and Abbotsford.

Participants will deep-dive into topics like market research, sales channels, forecasting and more before going on a live Dragon’s Den-style pitch competition to showcase their ideas.

“Collaboration is at the heart of this program,” said Nicole Read, general manager of Community Futures South Fraser.

“The Startup Challenge brings together entrepreneurs, mentors, and community partners to create an environment where local business ideas can truly grow and thrive.”

The business accelerator program has a limited number of 15 slots, with applications set to close on Friday, September 5.

Last year’s top prize went to a Lower Mainland interior designer. Abbotsford-based Jenn Bratton won the People’s Choice Award for her stuffed toys designed to help kids express their feelings.
