Small wildfire ignites south of Highway 1 in Hope
UPDATE 10:30 A.M.: Fire crews with the Hope Fire Department responded around midnight for the report of a wildfire on the mountain behind the Esso Travel Centre. Hope Fire says B.C. Wildfire Service crews are on site with ground crews and air support activated as of 8 a.m. The fire is currently designated as rank 1-2 (low to moderate intensity); helicopters are bucketing water; and a 10-person BCWS crew is assisting the area today. People are asked to avoid the area and steer clear of emergency operations.

HOPE — A small wildfire sending columns of smoke into the Fraser Valley skies has been spotted in the forested hillside south of Highway 1 in Hope.
According to the B.C. Wildfire Service website, the fire was first discovered Wednesday evening. As of Thursday morning, the size is an estimated 0.6 hectares.
