CHILLIWACK — Cottonwood 4 Cinemas, a discount movie theatre on Luckakuck Way, announced on social media Tuesday (May 13) that it will permanently close at the end of next month.

According to a social media post, and a phone call of confirmation to one of the owners, the movie theatre says it has been a pleasure to serve Chilliwack for the past 16 years.

“To all of our lovely customers…The time has come to say ‘Goodbye’! For 16 years, Pauline and Cathy have had the pleasure of seeing you at the movies and it has been an amazing time! But now it is time for our retirement….so, at the end of June we will be bringing the curtain down for the very last time.”

The movie theatre extended thanks to each and every one of its loyal customers.

“A big THANK YOU to each and everyone of you for your support and patronage throughout the years and we wish you all the very best for the future,” Cottonwood 4 Cinemas wrote. “If you have any gift certificates, now is the time to bring them in and see a movie! Many thanks…..Pauline and Cathy.”

The movie theatre had previously held free movie days on Canada Day, and hosted the Chilliwack Independent Film Festival.
