Residents invited to host pizza parties discussing Chilliwack community plan

CHILLIWACK — The City of Chilliwack is launching a new engagement project to get people talking about their community in the long run.

Residents are invited to host an “OCPizza Party” with friends and family to discuss the City’s Official Community Plan (OCP).

“This plan, called Chilliwack 2050, will guide how the city will grow and develop over the next 25 years,” wrote the City. “Through a phased process of planning research and community engagement, the updated plan will reflect a renewed vision for Chilliwack’s future.”

City documents say the new OCP updates aim to help address ongoing pressures, like housing demand and climate impacts, and to align the City’s policies with new provincial housing legislation.

Pizza party reimbursement is available for food up to $30, as long as participants follow the provided self-guided discussion workbook by June 2.

You can also share your thoughts by visiting Cheam Leisure Centre on May 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., or through an online questionnaire on the City’s engagement portal by June 1.

The provincially mandated update is due to be completed by the end of 2025.
