CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack Building Youth Futures (CBYF) is hosting a free back-to-school event called ‘Back to School Banger’ on Wednesday, September 21 at the Chilliwack Landing Centre.

According to the event coordinator, Jenna Fraser, the event is a byproduct of a weekly CBYF event and will cater to youth between the ages of 11 and 19.

“This bigger event is kind of a spinoff of the smaller events we do each Wednesday,” explained Fraser. “So, the smaller events we do are after-school hangouts; it’s like a youth drop-in centre.”

The event would run from 3 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. and is classified as a family event where everyone is welcome.

“For us, we want to see resources for youth in Chilliwack,” explained Fraser. “It’s also a great spot to connect—we actually see quite a bit of youth who show up and all of a sudden they’re talking to youth they haven’t met before.”

Organizers are preparing for approximately 200 people to attend, and activities will include everything from skateboarding to video games, with food and beverages provided.
