CHILLIWACK — Early learning schools across SD33 are opening their doors to kids ready to take their first steps into the classroom next school year.

Registration is open for Ready, Set, Explore– a series of open houses at elementary schools throughout the Chilliwack School District. The event helps children and their families meet staff, take a tour and participate in early learning activities at their future school.

This year’s theme? Dinosaurs.

“These events support the transition into school in a fun and family-oriented way,” said Karen Allan, Early Literacy Coordinator. “Our schools are ready to meet each child where they are, providing a nurturing, play-based environment that supports each child’s strengths and needs.”

The next events are held at East Chilliwack and Greendale Elementary Schools. More dates and times are available here.

The district also supports incoming kindergarten students through Kinderfair, which takes place later in the school year between May and June.

Kids who will be five years old on or before December 31st can now register for Kindergarten through the district website. There are approximately 1,100 pre-K students in SD33.
