Feb 16, 2025 | 9:25 AM

ABBOTSFORD — Police seized three realistic-looking firearms in just over 24 hours following a proactive traffic stop and two separate 911 calls reporting individuals with guns, the Abbotsford Police Department said.

AbbyPD officers responded swiftly to the calls, treating each incident as a serious threat. Upon locating the individuals involved, police determined the weapons were airsoft or pellet guns but noted their striking resemblance to real firearms.

“Until these realistic-looking firearms are secured by police, they are treated as real,” the AbbyPD said in a social media post.

Incidents involving replica firearms prompt significant police responses, as officers must assume the weapons are genuine until proven otherwise. AbbyPD is urging the public to be mindful of the risks associated with carrying or displaying imitation firearms in the community.

No injuries were reported in the incidents. It’s not known if any charges will be laid in association with the incidents
