CHILLIWACK — Chilliwack Fire Department crews were dispatched Friday afternoon to Highway 1 just west of the Evans Road on-ramp for a motor vehicle incident in Chilliwack.

According to a scanner recording from Chilliwack resident Julie Hiscock, firefighters from Engine 1, 4, 1-2, and Tender 1 were paged to the 44500 block of Highway 1 in Chilliwack at 3:04 p.m. Friday. Firefighters later learned the incident involved a diesel spill and flammables.

According to scanner traffic, a smaller dump truck reportedly blew a tire while a second commercial vehicle swerved to avoid the blown tire but wound up in the centre media directly facing eastbound Highway 1 traffic.
