Motorist with a lead foot nabbed for blazing through a school zone Wednesday: AbbyPD
ABBOTSFORD — A driver in Abbotsford will have several days to ponder their foolish actions without a vehicle after getting caught driving over 40 km/h above the speed limit in a school zone Wednesday afternoon.
According to a social media post Wednesday, Abbotsford PD says proactive enforcement on area roadways remains a top priority among its patrol and traffic units. A patrol officer who was conducting speed enforcement in a school zone on Downes Road Wednesday observed a vehicle booking it at 77 km/h in a posted 30 km/h zone.
Police say the driver pocketed a $368 violation ticket and had their vehicle impounded.
The traffic incident is one of over 650 violation tickets AbbyPD officers have issued in just 43 days this year so far, or an average of 15.1 tickets per day through Wednesday.
