B.C. to support wildfire fighting efforts in Los Angeles

VICTORIA — The BC Wildfire Service is sending a senior management team to California to combat the devastating blazes in the Los Angeles area.

Premier David Eby says in a tweet that California’s Department of Forestry and Fire Protection made the request, and a team from B.C. will depart “imminently.”

Forests Minister Ravi Parmar says the unit will work directly with California officials to provide logistics, planning, operations and aviation support.

Eby says B.C. is also working to send ground crews to California as part of Canada’s national response to the fires in Southern California.
