LANGLEY — Harm Dosange, a Fraser Valley native and law enforcement veteran with 23 years of policing under his belt, has been named the Officer-in-Charge of the Langley RCMP detachment.

According to a statement from RCMP Staff Sgt. Kris Clark, senior media relations officer for RCMP Division E, Lower Mainland District RCMP made the announcement Monday morning (Jan. 6).

Township of Langley Mayor Eric Woodward welcomed the news.

“Superintendent Dosange is a great choice to lead the Langley RCMP, with a wealth of experience in community policing, and having previously served within Langley. There are many municipal policing priorities for the Township of Langley we need to make progress on. Council and I look forward to working with him in the years ahead,” Woodward said.

Supt. Dosange has worked in a number of areas of policing and most recently served as the Community Services Officer in Surrey where he managed the Youth Unit, Emergency Operations and Planning Unit, Community Response Units and Diversity and Indigenous Peoples Unit, along with multiple proactive enforcement teams.

Supt. Dosange previously served as a watch commander in 2017 at the Langley Detachment. In 2019, he was commissioned to the rank of Inspector and served as both a Regional and Divisional Duty Officer, prior to returning to Surrey in 2021. He grew up in Surrey and has spent his entire career in the Lower Mainland. Prior to joining the RCMP as a Regular Member, he worked at the Surrey Detachment as a municipal employee and as a Surrey RCMP summer student. RCMP personnel say Supt. Dosange has a passion for the communities he serves and has been very involved in the organization of the RCMP Classic, a basketball tournament that he competed in as a student.

“I am honoured and excited to serve as the Detachment Commander for the Langley RCMP,” said Supt. Dosange. “I am committed to engaging with both municipalities to continue to advance their strategic priorities and keep their communities safe and I’m looking forward to working with the police officers and support staff at the detachment.”

Senior RCMP leadership in B.C. say Dosange understands the intricacies behind regional policing and its related challenges.

“Superintendent Dosange will bring his extensive knowledge and experience of policing in the Lower Mainland back to the Langley RCMP detachment,” said Assistant Commissioner Brian Edwards, Lower Mainland District Commander. “He understands the complexities of policing in this region and I know he is committed to leading the detachment while supporting the municipalities and members moving forward.”
