CPKC Holiday Train back for a 3rd straight year in Agassiz tonight, complete with a choir, food trucks, and more

AGASSIZ — The arrival of the CPKC Holiday Train is just hours away.

The Canadian Pacific Kansas City Holiday Train is back for a third straight year in Agassiz later today after two virtual concerts in the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021, as it seeks to entertain and raise money, food and awareness for local food banks in what should be an entertaining Christmas-time event.

The 2024 CPKC Holiday Train 2024 began its annual tour of live events in November and will culminate with stops in B.C. The brightly decorated locomotive will roll through B.C. and stop at small towns and cities along the way to put on shows.

Chilliwack and Agassiz residents who are willing to brave the traffic and crowds can enjoy the festivities when the train arrives at 5:45 p.m. outside the Agassiz Agricultural and Horticultural Association Hall at 6800 Pioneer Avenue.

Residents who arrive early can bask in pre-train festivities starting at 5 p.m. There will be food trucks, a concession, free glow sticks, the Cascade Choir on the main stage and children’s activities to boot.

Food trucks and concessions include Wild Forager Catering, Magical Rings Mini Donuts, Dutchlicious, Planet of the Crepes, and a concession provided by the Agassiz Agricultural and Horticultural Association.

After the train arrives, musical artists Magic! and Sophia Camara will perform in a free concert from the train stage.

Food bank donations will be accepted throughout the event. Last year, Agassiz-Harrison Community Services received a generous $7,000 from the Holiday Train’s efforts, helping to support food programs in the area. The event encourages visitors to donate money or food to help those in need in the community.
