CHILLIWACK – A Chilliwack coffee shop’s online platform has won a Small Business BC (SBBC) Award.

Smoking Gun Coffee on Yale Road, known for locally roasted, ethically sourced, small-batch coffee, picked up the SBBC’s E-Commerce Experience Award not only for bean sales but also for providing a “fun and unique” online experience.

In an online summary, the awards committee pointed to “appealing visuals” and “interesting information and recipes” as key elements that won them over, including Smoking Gun’s annual virtual blind coffee tasting, which they say maintains “a personal connection with their customers.”

Close to 400 businesses across the province made submissions in multiple categories that recognize excellence in entrepreneurship.

Smoking Gun’s brick-and-mortar location is in Chilliwack’s historic District 1881 downtown and has been open since 2020, offering coffee to suit all tastes and preferences.

The SBBC award follows accolades from Chilliwack’s Chamber of Commerce earlier in 2024, in which Smoking Gun nabbed the Best New Business Award.

The 21st Annual Small Business BC Awards were revealed Friday at the Vancouver Convention Centre, with over $20,000 in prizes across four award categories.

Competitors in this year’s E-Commerce category included the French-inspired Atome Bakery, which delivers bread across B.C., Alberta, and Washington State, as well as Vancouver’s Sapiens Child Design Inc., which manufactures child-sized furniture.
